FAQSGet the Answers You Need
Welcome to the FAQs page, where you'll find answers to common questions about my services, approach, and how to get started on your wellness journey. If you don't find what you're looking for here, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
Do you take insurance?
To be fully transparent: The current healthcare system often makes it difficult for specialized, independent providers to maintain a sustainable practice. Most insurance companies set reimbursement rates that do not reflect the actual cost of providing high-quality, modern mental health care.
By remaining "out-of-network," I am able to:
Invest in the best tools: I can spend more time on continuing education and specialized certifications (like the ones you see on my bookshelf) rather than on hours of unpaid administrative paperwork.
Prevent burnout: I can see fewer clients per week, ensuring that when I sit across from you, I am fully present, energized, and focused on your story.
Prioritize your privacy: I am not required to report a clinical diagnosis to a third-party database just to justify your treatment.
I am able to accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards for all sessions.
If you have a PPO insurance plan, you may be eligible for "Out-of-Network" benefits. Upon request, I can provide you with a monthly Superbill—a specialized receipt that includes all the clinical information your insurance company needs. You can submit this document directly to your provider to seek partial reimbursement for your session fees.
Pro Tip: I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking, "What is my out-of-network reimbursement rate for CPT code 90837 (individual therapy)?" to get a clear picture of your expected costs.
What will my first session be like?
1. Creating a Foundation of Safety
Before we dive into your story, we start with the logistics of safety. I will walk you through confidentiality, clinic policies, and informed consent. It’s important to me that you have a full understanding of how our partnership works and that you feel empowered by the "rules of the road" before we begin.
2. Finding Our Compass
Next, we’ll work together to clarify your goals. What brought you in today? What does "better" look like for you? This gives us a direction to point our work toward, ensuring that our sessions are intentional and meaningful to you.
3. Building Context
If and when you feel comfortable, I will ask you a series of questions about your life, history, and the path you’ve traveled so far. Healing doesn't happen in a vacuum; by understanding your background, we can start to put your current challenges into a larger, more manageable context.
4. Deep Listening & Settling In
Above all else, this first session is about you feeling deeply listened to. My primary goal is to provide a space where you feel safe enough to exhale. We aren't here to rush; we are here to help you settle in so you can eventually do the deep, transformative work you came here to do.
How long will I be in therapy?
It is a common question, and one I want to answer with the same transparency I bring to our sessions. Because my approach focuses on deep, transformative work—addressing the root causes of patterns rather than just applying a temporary "tool" to a symptom—this process takes time.
The Arc of Our Work While every path is unique, a realistic expectation for this kind of depth-oriented work is to meet weekly for about a year. I know that can feel daunting. We live in a world that promises instant results, but the human heart and the nervous system don't work on a "high-speed" timeline. True healing—the kind that changes how you relate to yourself and the world—requires a steady, consistent rhythm.
The Goal: Transformation, Not Extension Please know that my ultimate goal is for you to achieve the greatest possible transformation in the least amount of time. We aren't here to linger in the past indefinitely; we are here to clear the debris so you can move forward with clarity.
We will check in regularly on our progress. Some clients find the relief they need in a few months, while others choose to stay longer as they discover deeper layers of growth. You are always the driver of your own pace—I am here to ensure the journey is as effective and profound as possible.
What is your cancellation/no-show policy?
Because our work is a commitment to your growth, I reserve a specific time in my calendar just for you.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I require at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows me the opportunity to offer that time to another client who may be waiting for support.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will be charged the full session fee of $150.
If you cannot attend in-person, a virtual session is always available.
Grace Pass: I understand that life—from sudden illness to family emergencies—doesn't always follow a 24-hour clock. Because I value our relationship and the humanity of this work, I offer a one-time courtesy waiver of the late cancellation fee. This "grace pass" can be used once during our time together, allowing us to pivot when the truly unexpected happens without the added stress of a financial penalty.
