Welcome to Secure Base Counseling. By accessing this website or engaging in our services, you agree to the following terms.

1. Scope of Services: Clinical Therapy vs. Coaching

Secure Base Counseling provides two distinct types of services. It is the responsibility of the client to understand which service they are receiving:

  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling: This service is only available to individuals physically located in the State of Utah at the time of the session. It involves the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders through a clinical, attachment-informed lens (Root, Repattern, Repair, Reclaim).

  • Mental Health Coaching: This is a global service focused on identifying relational patterns and active repatterning. Coaching is not therapy. It does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health disorders and is not a substitute for professional psychiatric care or clinical counseling. Engaging in coaching does not establish a therapist-patient relationship.

2. Emergency Procedures & Crisis Care

Secure Base Counseling is not a crisis intervention service. We do not provide 24/7 monitoring or emergency support.

  • If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are at risk of self-harm, please call or text 988 (in the US/Canada) or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • Coaching clients outside the US are responsible for identifying their local emergency resources prior to beginning services.

3. Payment, Cancellations, & Refunds

To maintain the "Secure Base" of our practice, we adhere to the following financial policies:

  • Payment: Fees for all sessions (Counseling, Coaching, and Groups) are due at the time of booking or as otherwise specified in your client portal.

  • Cancellation Policy: We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or no-shows, will be charged the full session fee.

  • Refunds: Payments for services already rendered are non-refundable. For coaching packages, any unused sessions are non-refundable after 30 days of purchase.

4. Intellectual Property & The Four-Phase Framework

The framework used at Secure Base Counseling—specifically the Root, Repattern, Repair, and Reclaim signature process—is the proprietary intellectual property of Secure Base Counseling.

  • All website content, metaphors (including tree/root symbolism), worksheets, and program materials are protected by copyright.

  • You may not reproduce, redistribute, or sell any materials provided during your sessions without express written consent.

5. Support Group Community Agreements

Participants in our weekly groups agree to the following:

  • Confidentiality: While we cannot legally guarantee confidentiality in a group setting, all members agree to respect the privacy of others. "What is said here, stays here."

  • Safety & Conduct: We maintain a "low-demand" and "unmasking-friendly" environment. Secure Base Counseling reserves the right to remove any participant whose behavior is disruptive, discriminatory, or harmful to the group's safety.

  • Non-Clinical Status: Support groups are educational and social in nature. Participation does not constitute clinical treatment.

6. Professional Boundaries & Communication

To protect the therapeutic space, we maintain strict professional boundaries:

  • Communication: All scheduling and clinical communication must occur through our secure client portal. We do not provide support via social media DMs or unsecured email.

  • Social Media: To preserve the integrity of the professional relationship, we do not accept "friend" or "follow" requests from current or former clients on personal social media accounts.

7. Limitation of Liability

Secure Base Counseling and its practitioners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of this website or our coaching services. You agree that your use of these services is at your own risk and that results are not guaranteed.
